Croup is a fairly common childhood disease usually caused
by a viral infection in the upper respiratory system. As the
infection develops the windpipe (trachea) and voice box
(larynx) become irritated and inflamed. This then leads to
hoarseness and the harsh repetitive barking cough of the
croup. Infants to children 3 or 4 are most likely to develop
more severe symptoms and because of their smaller airways
they are more likely to develop the characteristic cough.
Accompanying the barking cough there
may be symptoms similar to a cold including a fever with
stuffy or runny nose. During the first few days of the croup
it is contagious and care should be taken not to pass it on

Experiences and Testimonials of others
Tabitha - Monday morning
my 15 month old woke up with a fever of 102
and was very raspy in his voice and sounded
like he needed to clear his throat. As the
day wore on I used Breathe on his feet and
chest, I used Eucalyptus to open his
airways, I used Oregano on his feet as well
as Peppermint to lower his fever. The only
oil that seemed to be working was the
Peppermint for the fever. He continued to
sound hoarse all day and was very lethargic.
I kept trying the oils again and again and was very
discouraged and devastated. I love these oils! I'm
emotionally invested in them because time after time they
have worked for me and my family and I know they work! I
know I can use these oils instead of synthetic drugs on my
children knowing they are being healed naturally!!
But as we were getting ready for bed that night he
coughed for the first time all day. He coughed 3 times and
immediately I knew he had croup. It was a barking cough and
i just knew it. So I looked up the protocol and none of the
oils I had been using were listed. I finally used
Frankincense which helps with inflammation and put it on his
throat. I put Lemon on his throat as well to soothe.
Marjoram and Thyme were also suggested. I didn't have those
2 oils but I did have PastTense that has both Marjoram and
Frankincense in it. I put it all over his back, feet and
diffused Frankincense that night. By the next day the fever
was gone!! No coughing and just a little bit of raspy voice.
I was able to have my baby be healed with all natural oils.
I feel so blessed. I really do!
Charly - What
do you use for croup and what is the protocol? This is for a
friend who doesn't have Sandalwood.
Au - Use a couple drops of Breathe or
Peppermint added with a couple drops of Frankincense and a
carrier oil. Apply it to the baby’s chest. After it
volatilizes or is absorbed, apply it again. Several times
per day and night till coughing stops. You can put the same
mix on the baby’s feet. Make sure you cover the area so the
baby doesn't touch the area and then touch his eyes.
Also I suggest diffusing Breathe but don't use a
humidifier. They might cause more problems unless they are
completely sterile. You could also put a couple drops of
Lemon oil in his bottle.
Rob - Put the mix mentioned above on the
babies back too.

Abscesses are nature's way of
purifying the body, by bringing toxins and waste materials
all to one place, so that it can easily be drawn out. Pus is
formed by the loss of organic sulfur from the cells,
therefore herbs that contain organic sulfur, such a garlic,
can be used to rebuild and prevent this condition.
In general, the brighter and
tighter the redness, the smaller the abscess; the softer
feeling and darker colored, the larger the abscess. A thick
yellow pus is considered healthy, where a thin watery
greenish pus is considered infected and unhealthy.
Abscesses heal when the
discharge stops and the cavity of the abscess begins to
According to Dr. J. Christopher “The
basic cause of all abscesses, tumors, cysts, etc., stems
back to an impure bloodstream, with its major cause being
improper food intake. This condition causes poor action of
liver and bowels, a faulty digestion, or disturbances in the
lymphatic glands are generally responsible for the
accumulation of impurities in the blood.”
Poultices will bring the abscess to
a head and clean it out.
A poultice made of 1 part
Lobelia and 3 parts Mullein is very effective in drawing out
the toxins as well as relieving pain
· A poultice made of hot
onions put directly over the abscessed area
Add a few drops of an
essential oil of choice to the poultice for added effect.
How to make a poultice:
Dried Herb Poultice
Grind dried herbs into a
powder with a mortar and pestle, and add enough warm water to
make a paste. The paste should be thick enough to be applied
to the affected area, but it shouldn't be stiff.
Spread the herbal mixture over
a piece of gauze, cotton or muslin that is large enough for
the affected area. Clean the affected area before placing
the poultice on it, and wrap the poultice with a towel or
plastic wrap and secure it into place. Keep the poultice on
for anywhere from 1 to 24 hours depending applying a fresh
poultice as needed.
Fresh Herb Poultice
Chop up about 1/2 cup of the
fresh herb and mix with 1 cup of water in a saucepan. Simmer
herbs and water for about 2 minutes. Squeeze out excess
moisture, but don't drain. Spread the herbal mixture over a
piece of gauze, cotton or muslin that is large enough for
the affected area. Clean the affected area before placing
the poultice on it. Wrap the poultice with a towel or
plastic wrap and secure it into place.
Keep the poultice on for anywhere from 1 to 24 hours
depending applying a fresh poultice as needed.
Once the abscess has burst and pus has drained off, apply
a poultice of comfrey leaves or root.
